557: Drive Team Roles

19-Feb-2020

<G6>Drive your own Robot. Each Team shall include up to three (3) Drive Team Members. No Drive Team Member may fulfill this role for more than one Team in a given competition season.

When a Team qualifies for a Championship event (e.g., States, Nationals, Worlds, etc.) the Students on

the Team attending the Championship event are expected to be the Students on the Team that was awarded the spot. Students can be added as support to the Team but should not be added as DriveTeam Members or programmers for the Team.

Would a student programmer be allowed to assist another programmer on a team? Also would a drive team member be able to fulfill the requirement for a programmer while still being a drive team member. Finally what are the restrictions on programmers on what they can, be, or do as the rules are vague on their role with a team. I am a little confused if programmers have any restrictions like drive team members.

Programmers are the ones who write the code that gets downloaded onto the Robot. They may not be adults.
