Event Description

The Utah & Mountain Region VEX Robotics Championship is a qualifying tournament for VEX Worlds. Five teams will qualify for Worlds, Tournament Champions (3 teams) and Excellent Award winners (2 teams). Entry in to the Utah & Mountain Region VEX Robotics Championship is by invitation only. Excellent Award winners, Tournament Champions, and Tournament Finalists from the following VRC events will be invited:

11/12/11 Idaho VEX Tournament: Hailey, ID
12/17/11 Syracuse VRC Tournament: Syracuse, UT
01/14/12 Top of Utah VEX Competition: Hyrum, Utah
01/28/12 Northridge VRC Tournament: Layton, UT
02/10/12 Bobcat VEX Tournament: Smithfield, UT

If needed, additional teams will be added based on performance in the above listed VRCs to make a minimum field of 24 teams.

NOTE: Others local VRCs will be added to the list of qualifying competitions as the season progresses.

Other Information

Through support of the United States Air Force, each of the five qualifying teams from the Utah & Mountain Region VEX Robotics Championship will receive $200 to use towards their registration fee to Worlds or Nationals.

*Each team will be allowed four attempts at the skill challenges, two attempts at the Robot Skills Challenge and two attempts at the Programming Skills Challenge. Four hours have been scheduled for the skill challenges. To ensure there will not be a bottle neck at the end of the event, a skills attempt must be used each hour or risk forfeiting an attempt (e.g., if you don’t attempt a skills challenge in the first hour, between 10:30 – 11:30, you will forfeit your first attempt and only have three remaining).
